The Ministry of Education has now released an updated Assessment and Evaluation document called Growing Success.
Review of this document articulates and supports practices already in place within the VLC. It is our expectation that all assignments and tests are completed by students and in a timely manner. It is our expectation that teachers will support students by clearly articulating assignment expectations and a submission schedule. Further, teachers will be in contact with students and parents when work is not submitted on time. When work is chronically late or not submitted at all, there are consequences and these are determined on a case by case basis in consultation with the teacher and the Principal.
In all cases, students and parents are counselled in regard to getting work in by the due date and need to be aware that marks may suffer where work is not submitted on time and where no prior arrangements have been made with the subject teacher. We want all of our students to be successful and self discipline in a rigorous program is an important learning skill students need for life.
Teacher, parents, students and school administration will continue to work together to "grow success".
